Partnership can take all kinds of different forms – as Christians we all want to consider how we can best use all that God has given us, for the advance of the gospel. This includes our time, energy, gifts, resources, and our money.

 

Christian financial giving is different to charitable giving. The word Paul uses in Philippians 4:15 is partnership: “And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.”

At Trinity Church Bristol, we hope to reach the city with the gospel of Christ. We do have expenses, however:

 

  • Carl and Tom are partly paid for by external sources, but this cannot be sustained forever
  • Our two venues (Elmgrove on Sunday, Subud Hall Tuesday nights for FOCUS and Christianity Explored) cost around £100 each per meeting.
  • Student ministry – Students tend to have lower income and therefore give less financially. But not only do they serve our church family with their time and energy and in other ways, students also have a great opportunity to grow in their faith at University, and to make Jesus known among their coursemates. We love to invest in them at FOCUS, student suppers and weekends away.
  • Bibles
  • Publicity of many kinds including: song sheets, flyers, worksheets, notice boards and so on.
  • Occasional weekend away trips and events such as Christmas Carols or Chinese New Year
  • Donations to Herald to support their evangelism in various cities in England and Wales
  • Food and refreshments etc.
