Sacrifice

On Sunday Dan Leafe helped us think about a big theme of the Old Testament – the theme of sacrifice.

We see, in Leviticus 16, the lengthy, messy and complicated procedure the Jews went through to make atonement for sins on the Day of Atonement – to symbolically remove sin and pay the penalty for it. And it points us to the heart of the gospel: Jesus’ death – in Romans 3:21-26 – as the sacrifice for our atonement.

What great news: God has done it, fully and finally! Atonement for our sins has been made!
